Criteria for our recommendations and ratings:

Many who read our site, including the vendors of many of the products wonder... How did we come to the conclusion for our recommendations and ratings?

1.  Ease of installation.  Did installation from the provided CD install correctly without any updates from the Internet.  Were there any issues during the installation.

2.  Quality of the software tools that come with the webcam.

3.  Video quality.  When webcams first fire up they should have fluid crisp video.  Is the webcam slow to respond to movement, focus, clear, etc.

4.  Low Light.  How the webcam operates under low lighting conditions

5.  Ease of focus, pan tilt and zoom if provided

6.  Mountings.  What options does the webcam have to mount, can it be mounted to the FlexStand, does it have a tall base for better height so it looks as though you are looking into the webcam versus down at you or up at you.

7.  Additional features.  Features like Animation Avitars, Video Mail, picture library, Internet webcam options. 

8.  Cost.  Of course the cost for features is a measurement that must be looked at.  Free solutions tend to have basic features, while commercial solutions have more features, but also a cost or subscription fees.  Are the additional costs worth the extra features or performance.
